THE IMPACT OF ROSENBERG’S NONVIOLENT COMMUNICATION APPROACH ON PEACE EDUCATION

This thesis was realized with the dream of a peaceful and compassionate world without violence, from social, economic, political, technological, scientific, legal, and environmental perspectives. It explores and presents the impact of Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication approach, claimed to be simple, practical, and sustainable, on peace education from the personal level to the international level. This thesis can serve the continuous development of conflict transformation experts, peace workers, peace educators, international mediators, and other professionals aiming to contribute to peace and social transformation. To understand the contribution of the Nonviolent Communication approach, this thesis first examines existing resources to present its potential impact on peace education. Subsequently, it presents the analysis and findings of a field study conducted with third and fourth-year International Relations and Political Science students from nine different countries who received Nonviolent Communication training in the Peace and Conflict Studies course at Üsküdar University in Istanbul. The results of the thesis demonstrate that Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication approach has a positive impact on peace education.
